Greater Manchester County Update

Well this season has certainly flown; really do not know where time has gone. It has been a very busy season as always and it has been made extra special by watching the talent from Greater Manchester grow through the work of the coaching staff and managers who support the Excel programme to the dedication and determination of the athletes.

The athletes have been a credit to not only themselves, but their schools, clubs and families who without the support they offer would not have achieved the development they have. So I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved athletes, staff, schools, clubs and families. I would like to congratulate all the athletes who represented Greater Manchester on Saturday in the Tri Fest the results were brillaint, I hope you enjoyed the experience to represent your County and you should be proud of it.

These opportunities are far and few between now due to the new structure so when they come along they have to be embraced. Some of the players you aspire to be like who play in Super League and for England Netball have had the privilege of representing their counties at some point in the netball careers. I would also like to take this opportunity to wish the athletes representing Greater Manchester at the forth coming Talent Festival the best of luck. You have worked hard and warrant the opportunity to trial and try and achieve the next level. Success does not come without hard work and time and many of you are so young and your future looks very bright so please remember this.

Thank you also to the Greater Manchester girls who acted as ball girls at the Tri Fest.

Keep your eyes on the website and come along to the County AGM to hear more about the development for next season and to hear about county trials and plans for the excel programme.

Congratulations to all Golden Globes nominees and winners, we wish more people could be nominated and be recognised as the work you all do in so many different roles to help the growth and development of netball is amazing and volunteers in particular are the back bone of this. This sport could not and will not survive without you so ‘Thank You.’

Greater Manchester have seen so much success again this season at both club and school level and this is a credit to all. Congratulations to Oldham National Under 16 winners and Tameside runners-up, I believe the final you showcased was one of the best ever seen. Congratulations also to all the junior and senior athletes who have been selected for England this season – absolutely amazing!!!

Greater Manchester are proud to be associated with Northern Thunder and are proud of the achievements they have made this season and hopefully continue to make – we are right behind you and hope this seasons play offs are your time!

Thank you to everyone in Greater Manchester for the time and dedication you give to the sport that we all love. Thank you to the committee who have supported me in my first term as Chair and who have helped me to run the County so well yet again this season.

Enjoy the rest of this season and the summer break if you get one (although netball has now become a 12 month sport).

I hope to see you all at the GMCNA AGM – Tuesday 26th June @ 7pm, Wright Robinson SC, come and hear all the updates and have your say on how your counties money is spent!
