Greater Manchester County Scouting Development Plan

September 2012- August 2013

  • All scouts who have been active in 2011/2012 will be invited to assist at GMCNA Academy trials on 6th October 2012 at Wright Robinson.
  • By active - must have scouted at, at least 2 different events.
  • Active scouts will be asked to attend either 2 GMJNL fixtures or 2 GMCCL fixtures or a combination (RJL fixtures if appropriate) between October through to December to highlight any athletes who may warrant a late trial.
  • A final GMCNA Academy trial will be carried out in either December or January depending on when the programme beings. – Active scouts to be invited to select.
  • No further scouting will take place until the end of the season (end of March) when preparations will begin for the forth coming season (2013/2014) unless the dates below fall before this cut off.
  • Scouts will be asked to attend Greater Manchester County School Tournaments at all age groups, Greater Manchester County Club Tournament and up to 2 club training sessions to nominate athletes for trials for September 2013.
  • Any non-active scouts will have to re attend the scouting workshop to be delivered by NW Head Scout. For a scout to remain active and to retain their award they must scout at least 2 times per year (September – August).
  • Greater Manchester wish to run one Talent ID workshop per season and one Scouting workshop per season both to include practical elements where possible.
  • All scouts will be required to attend a 2 yearly update (re accreditation) programme to ensure they are kept informed of any changes/developments from England Netball, Regional or County level. These to be delivered where possible with the support of EN Excel Coaching Staff/NW Head Scout and County Head Scout. (This will take place in September 2012 on this occasion – date tbc).
  • The current position of Head Scout is up for re advertisement this summer as the 2 year posts ends. Applications to go live following GMCNA AGM in June and will close on 12th August ready for the new Head Scout to plan September trials alongside the County Talent Sub Committee. Only a scout who has been positively active i.e. done more than the bare minimum will be eligible to apply and will also be required to have good administration skills.
  • Scouting will continue at tournaments and club training sessions from May 2012-August 2012. In September any athletes who need to be re seen within schools or clubs will be looked at in training.  Scouting will then not continue until after county trials to allow athletes to receive paperwork in time.
